Little Lotus

Little Lotus is my last kitten still needing syringe feedings. She is so tiny, but such a love bug!

The kittens sure use space efficiently...

Good night kittens

It's been a long day and the kittens are sleepy! Trinette has taken over the momma role and is always snuggling with the teeny tiny kittens. She is so dear.

The bigger kittens piled up in the canopy tree...

or snuggled in the cube with some more tiny kittens.

It's a full house, but there is a lot of love in this room.

Check Up

After Humvee passed so suddenly, it was time for a vet checkup for the Car Kittens. We got mostly good news. The vet said that they all look okay for now, but the littles are not thriving like the bigger kittens. They are what vets call thrifty kittens. The next couple weeks will be crucial for them and they are too young for any medications. I will be giving them pedialyte to help keep them hydrated and going back to extra nightly feedings every 3 hours. I should have named these kittens the coffee kittens because it looks like I'll be drinking a lot of it!

They were all ready for a nap when we got home. So I had an adorable waterfall of kittens.

Cuddling it out

We lost one of the smallest kittens, little Humvee, today. I woke up ready to feed the kittens their breakfast and some of them had even started to eat canned food, which was exciting. Humvee had passed away during the night. We don't know why and sometimes these things just happen, but I was devastated. I took care of the kittens and after a good cry I went back into the room to cuddle with my littles.

Even with a loss, I am still glad that I was able to save the kittens that I have left. The older litter seems to be out of the woods and eating on their own. The smaller litters are still being syringe fed, but are starting to nibble on the canned food. They are so young and fragile, but we will keep on fighting.

... And everyone's out!

After the big kittens got freedom all of the little littles stared jumping ship too. So now we have all of the kittens romping around on the floor. Thankfully I am well stocked in beds and blankets for them. They now climb my legs as they wait in line for their formula. Crazy kittens.

Freedom!

The tub will no longer hold the three four week old kittens so they now have free rein of the bathroom.

I brought in the tinier Archer Crew kittens to keep them company since the bigger kittens are scheduled to be fixed and will need some time to heal. Shelby and Trinette became instant buddies.

The three week olds are still tub bound for now though.

Grand Escape!

Look what I found in my supply bin this morning! Cuties Aston and Mercedes!

Kitten Pile!

Everyone has become friends and three litters (two teeny tiny and one tiny) have become one. The cuteness is too much!

Momma Malory is confused about how all of these kittens keep showing up. There are too many for her now, but she still likes to watch over them though.

Bentley Belly!

Rub my belly!

My name is Echo, I am a crazy cat lady...

I got another email today. It's kitten season so we've been getting lots of emails. The shelter had three more bottle babies. They were so hungry that they were trying to eat. I knew they would be fighters and I wanted to give them the chance to keep fighting. So... I hopped back into my car and headed over the bridge to Maryland again to pick up trio of two to three week old kittens. I already had seven and I was the super hero of efficiency, what was two more... At least I have a big tub... Right?

Goodnight!

More night time feedings for my little ones. They are excited!

And now they are full and sleepy...

Stuffed Toys!

The gang and I have been busy and they all seem to be doing well and growing. They definitely have strong lungs because they will let me know when I am taking too long to feed them! I have cut down the time it takes me to feed everyone to thirty minutes. It made me feel like the super hero of efficiency! A few days ago, I introduced toys and stuffed animals to the kittens. They love them! Don't mind the straws, they're for teething! The tiniest kittens' teeth are starting to break through!

Momma Malory to the rescue!

My other litter of kittens, the Archer Crew and their orphan siblings, are already seven weeks old so momma Malory needed some space to help them wean. She wandered into the bathroom this afternoon and decided that she would help me with my kittens! She is truly a super mom! She is not producing enough milk for all of the kittens so I am still feeding them every 4 hours, but it is great to have her as my nanny for now.

So I picked up some kittens...

I received an urgent plea. There were two litters of two to three week old bottle babies at the shelter. If they didn't find rescue by the end of the day they would be euthanized. The semester had just ended and I figured, I have time for one litter. I hopped into the car and headed to Maryland to save some babies. When I arrived there were seven tiny kittens in the cage. They were very skinny and their ears were just starting to open up. It was the end of the day and no one had stepped up. Lost Dog and Cat Rescue was their last hope so I loaded my carrier with all seven bottle babies. I didn't need sleep as much as they needed to live.

I came home to a house already full of animals and a very understanding boyfriend who forgave me for my snap decision. I set the big bathroom up for the kittens - a nest with blankets and stuffed animals for snuggling, a heater to keep them warm, a weighing station, and feeding station stocked with syringes, formula, and tons of hand sanitizer, baby wipes and towels.

Almost immediately it was time for their first feeding. It took me an hour to feed each little one their formula and wipe their bottoms (they can't potty on their own yet). Three hours later it was time to feed them again. They were all crying at me and I thought "What have I done..." I've never had kittens this tiny without a momma cat to help me and bottle babies are tough. They don't have the same advantages as kittens with nursing moms - they can easily become dehydrated, cold, and sick. It's a dangerous world out there and I was going to help them navigate it.

After food time they settled in and I went to take a short nap before we had another dinner date. I am worried about some of the smaller kittens, but I will do my best for this littles.
